KATSEYE’s Detroit concert was cancelled roughly 30 minutes before it was set to begin on Tuesday night (Nov. 3), after member Megan Skiendiel fell ill and was unable to perform.

The decision came after doors had opened and many fans were already seated inside Little Caesars Arena, turning what should have been the group’s Michigan debut into a night of frustration, confusion, and financial loss.

In a statement issued shortly before showtime, KATSEYE said Megan was “unwell and unable to perform tonight” and needed time to recover. The group apologized to fans, particularly those who had traveled for the show, while Little Caesars Arena confirmed that tickets would remain valid for a future date.

But for many attendees, the apology did little to soften the blow. Fans said the cancellation was announced only after they had entered the venue, with some reporting that they had “just sat down” when the news appeared. One fan wrote on X: “you’re fuxking kidding me we just sat down.”

The backlash quickly centered on how late the announcement came and how much fans had invested to attend. One parent said their daughter was left devastated after the group “just CANCELED their DETROIT 30 minutes before the START,” adding, “I want my $889 I spent back!!”

Another attendee said they had driven three hours to Detroit and spent “the last of the money” they had to see KATSEYE on Lara’s birthday. They questioned why the cancellation occurred “30 minutes before even though they were just out for vip,” saying they “genuinely can’t believe this.”

For fans who booked hotels, transportation, time off work, or childcare around the date, the postponement meant more than a missed show: it created immediate, unrecoverable costs with no confirmed replacement date at the time of the announcement.

Some fans also questioned the group’s overall reliability after reports that additional members were sitting out performances. “KATSEYE has 2 members sitting out now? What’s another?” one post read. “Why can’t they get it together? They were rising superstars…”

While many fans expressed sympathy for Megan’s health, the criticism focused on communication and timing. The sentiment online was that an earlier announcement, even hours before doors, would have allowed attendees to adjust plans rather than discover the cancellation after arriving at the arena.

What Happens Next

Little Caesars Arena said the Detroit show will be rescheduled and that tickets for the original date will be honored. KATSEYE said it would share replacement date information with ticket holders, while the group’s next scheduled tour stop remained Chicago’s United Center on Thursday (Nov. 5), assuming Megan is able to recover in time.

For now, Detroit EYEKONS are left waiting for answers and, in many cases, hoping that the promised rescheduled date will be announced quickly enough to make another trip possible.
