BLACKPINK’s ROSÉ has released her latest single ‘New Trick,’ accompanied by a high-profile “Shot on iPhone 18 Pro” music video created with Apple.
The track marks a bright, pop-rock turn for the singer and doubles as a showcase for the iPhone 18 Pro’s upgraded camera system, including its new variable aperture control.ROSÉ is partnering with Apple for ‘New Trick,’ with the full music video filmed entirely on the newly unveiled iPhone 18 Pro as part of the tech giant’s long-running “Shot on iPhone” campaign.
The Black Label confirmed the collaboration on Sept 10, after a joint teaser appeared on both ROSÉ’s and Apple’s official Instagram accounts. In the 15-second clip, ROSÉ holds a purple lollipop in burgundy packaging stamped ‘new trick’ and “Shot on iPhone 18 Pro,” while a snippet of the song plays in the background.
The project places ROSÉ alongside previous “Shot on iPhone” music video partners such as The Weeknd (‘Dancing in the Flames’), Olivia Rodrigo (‘Get Him Back!’) and Lady Gaga (‘Stupid Love’), highlighting Apple’s strategy of aligning its camera marketing with global pop stars. The ‘New Trick’ music video is directed by acclaimed American filmmaker Dave Meyers, who previously helmed the video for BLACKPINK’s 2025 chart-topping single ‘Jump’. Meyers’ credits include work with Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, Kendrick Lamar and Ariana Grande, making him a natural fit for Apple’s premium campaign.

Visually, the video leans into a heightened, nostalgic coming-of-age aesthetic. ROSÉ appears in school-uniform-inspired styling alongside a vintage red sedan and a branded purple lollipop, before the clip expands into colorful performance sequences with a live band inside a gymnasium.

Sunlit suburban imagery, youthful styling and energetic camera movement give the video the feel of an early-2000s teen movie filtered through a contemporary pop lens.

‘New Trick’ is an uptempo alt-pop and pop-rock single that trades much of the introspection of ROSÉ’s 2024 debut album rosie for something brighter, scrappier and more playful. Co-written with frequent collaborator Amy Allen, the track layers dreamy vocals over distorted electric guitars and a brisk, propulsive rhythm, drawing from ’90s romantic-comedy soundtracks and early-2000s pop-punk energy.

Lyrically, the song begins from a familiar place of romantic disappointment before reframing heartbreak as survivable — and even a little absurd. ROSÉ sings in the first verse: “Maybe I’m emotional / I laid my dreams out on the table / Love is unconditional / Then disappears just like a rainbow.”

In the chorus, she turns recovery into an act of attitude: “Lovesick, I’ll pick my heart off the floor / New trick, watch this, I’m kicking the door / Get out, kapow, b****, I know the cure / New trick, watch this, watch this, ow.”

In a Vogue interview published ahead of the release, ROSÉ said ‘New Trick’ was written days after the Met Gala in New York in May and marks a deliberate departure from the melancholic tone of Rosie.

“This song was written during a hectic week, I think two days after the Met Gala in New York,” she told Vogue, adding that while writing with Amy Allen, she “hadn’t been able to relate to or write sad songs lately…which was a crazy thing to say, after how addicted I was to writing sad song after sad song for my Rosie album.”

“Ultimately, we successfully wrote something so not sad, and I think it is possibly the cutest thing we’ve ever made together… Maybe ‘Apt.’ is the cutest, but y’all can judge that for me!” ROSÉ added. “I loved being that girl and channeling that energy in the studio, which felt as if I was channeling that girl into myself. The energy and thrill it was giving me, I was so excited to share that with the world.”

She also noted that the track reminded her of the upbeat pop-rock songs that often soundtracked Apple ads in the 2000s, such as Jet’s ‘Are You Gonna Be My Girl’ and CSS’ ‘Music Is My Hot Hot Sex’.

‘New Trick’ dropped on Sept 17 at 7pm ET / Sept 18 at 8am KST, with the full “Shot on iPhone 18 Pro” music video arriving simultaneously. The single is the first release ahead of ROSÉ’s as-yet-untitled sophomore solo album, currently expected in 2027.

By filming the entire video on the iPhone 18 Pro, the project highlights the phone’s upgraded camera capabilities introduced at Apple’s Sept 9 event, reinforcing ROSÉ’s position as one of the most sought-after global pop stars for major brand collaborations.
