BLACKPINK’s Rose is partnering with Apple for her upcoming single ‘New Trick’, with the music video filmed entirely on the newly unveiled iPhone 18 Pro as part of the tech giant’s long-running “Shot on iPhone” campaign.
Rose’s agency, The Black Label, confirmed the collaboration on Sept 10, following a joint teaser drop on both the singer’s and Apple’s official Instagram accounts. In the 15-second clip, Rose appears holding a purple lollipop wrapped in burgundy packaging stamped with the words “new trick” and “Shot on iPhone 18 Pro”, while a snippet of the track plays in the background.

The ‘New Trick’ music video is directed by acclaimed American music video filmmaker Dave Meyers, who previously helmed the video for BLACKPINK’s 2025 chart-topping single “Jump”. Meyers’ credits include high-profile projects for Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, Kendrick Lamar and Ariana Grande, making him a natural fit for Apple’s premium campaign.

In an interview with Vogue published ahead of the release, Rose said ‘New Trick’ was written days after the Met Gala in New York in May and marks a deliberate departure from the melancholic tone of her 2024 solo album, Rosie. “Ultimately, we successfully wrote something so not sad, and I think it is possibly the cutest thing we’ve ever made together… Maybe ‘Apt.’ is the cutest, but y’all can judge that for me!” she told the publication. She also noted that the track reminded her of the upbeat pop-rock songs that often soundtracked Apple ads in the 2000s, such as Jet’s ‘Are You Gonna Be My Girl’ and CSS’ ‘Music Is My Hot Hot Sex’.

‘New Trick’ is scheduled to drop on Sept 17 at 7pm ET / Sept 18 at 8am KST, with the full music video arriving simultaneously as part of Apple’s latest “Shot on iPhone” installment. The single is the first release ahead of Rose’s as-yet-untitled sophomore solo album, currently expected in 2027.

The collaboration places Rose alongside past “Shot on iPhone” music video partners such as The Weeknd (‘Dancing in the Flames’), Olivia Rodrigo (‘Get Him Back!’) and Lady Gaga (‘Stupid Love’), underscoring Apple’s strategy of aligning its camera marketing with globally recognised pop stars. By filming the entire video on the iPhone 18 Pro, the project showcases the phone’s upgraded camera system, including new variable aperture control introduced at Apple’s Sept 9 event.
