Olivia Rodrigo has secured the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart with her highly anticipated third studio album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love. Released on 12 June 2026, the album shifted an astonishing 485,000 equivalent units in the United States alone during its first week of availability.

The figures mark the largest sales week of Rodrigo’s career and represent the biggest seven-day consumption total for any solo performer this year.

The immediate commercial success of the new record ensures an unblemished chart run for the twenty-three-year-old singer-songwriter. Rodrigo previously reached number one with her multi-platinum 2021 debut Sour and her sophomore follow-up Guts in 2023.

This latest campaign benefited heavily from a highly coordinated physical distribution strategy. The album was made available in more than 15 distinct physical variants, including specialised signed editions and collectible vinyl packages.

Vinyl purchases alone accounted for 164,000 units of her opening total. That figure sets a new milestone, tracking as the largest single week for the vinyl format by a female artist since the beginning of 2026.

Overthrowing the Pop Heavyweights

Rodrigo’s arrival completely disrupted the upper echelons of the domestic music charts, standing as the solitary new entry inside the top ten this week. The album successfully unseated Drake’s long-running release Iceman, which dropped to the number two position after spending its first four weeks at the summit.

Other established chart mainstays, including country artist Ella Langley and folk-pop singer Noah Kahan, also shifted downward to make room for the new release. The album’s momentum has been building since May, when the lead track “Drop Dead” debuted at number one on the singles chart, followed by the top-five success of her second single, “The Cure.”

Music critics have responded warmly to the musical direction of the project, praising Rodrigo’s sharp, unfiltered observation of relationship breakdowns and her signature vocal arrangements.

Preparing for a Global Tour

The performer is already shifting her focus toward a massive live production. The Unraveled Tour is scheduled to begin on 25 September 2026 in Hartford, Connecticut.

The extensive stadium and arena run will move through major North American cities throughout the autumn before crossing the Atlantic for a series of highly anticipated European and British dates in early 2027, concluding with a multi-night finale at London’s O2 Arena. With three consecutive number one albums now under her belt, Rodrigo has firmly solidified her position at the absolute forefront of global pop music.
