The Hong Kong entertainment industry is mourning the death of the actress and former beauty pageant finalist Natalie Ng, who has died at the age of 51. Her family confirmed in a statement on social media that she passed away peacefully in hospital on Tuesday morning, 9 June 2026, surrounded by close relatives and friends.
Ng had been receiving treatment for breast cancer since her initial diagnosis in 2022. Her family revealed that she was admitted to hospital on Sunday evening after her physical condition deteriorated, where she was visited by a priest and her two daughters before her passing.
A Career Built on the Hong Kong Stage
Ng first rose to public prominence in 1998, when she secured the position of second runner-up in the prestigious Miss Hong Kong beauty pageant. The high-profile appearance launched her career in television and film, leading to a long association with the prominent broadcasting network TVB.
She became a familiar face to television audiences across East Asia, starring in popular serial dramas including the mid-2000s hit Kung Fu Soccer. Her film credits included roles in early 2000s Hong Kong cinematic releases such as Undercover Blues, Don’t Let The Sun Go Down, and Loss Of Memory.

In August 2024, Ng chose to speak openly about her health, revealing to her followers that her cancer had progressed to stage four and spread to her liver, bones, and brain. She used her personal social media platforms to document her treatment plan, sharing the stark daily realities of undergoing chemotherapy.
In her final online post before her death, Ng wrote frankly about experiencing severe nausea and insomnia as side effects of her medication, noting that she was focusing on managing her mood through the discomfort. Despite her declining health, she attended a 40th anniversary concert by the veteran Cantopop male group Grasshopper, writing that the performance brought back many happy memories of her teenage years.
According to local medical reports published by The Standard, Ng’s treatment plan faced complications recently after she contracted pneumonia, which caused fluid to accumulate in her left chest cavity. The infection forced doctors to pause her regular chemotherapy cycles, leading to her final hospitalisation.
Tributes Pour In From the Entertainment World
Following the announcement of her death, prominent figures from across the Hong Kong entertainment landscape posted public messages of condolence. The Cantopop superstar Sammi Cheng, singer Kay Tse, and actor Carlos Chan were among the many celebrities offering tributes online, praising Ng for her resilience and the positive energy she shared with fellow patients.
Ng’s family expressed pride in her courage, stating that she used her limited time to realise long-held personal dreams and inspire others facing similar diagnoses. The family has requested privacy while they arrange the funeral, the details of which they will announce at a later date. Her two daughters will now be cared for by their father, Ng’s former husband David Chan, from whom she separated in June 2025.
