Casey was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area by Chinese refugee parents. She is an advocate for communities of color in the U.S., leveraging the power of stories to change law and policy. She studied Asian American Studies and Ethnic Studies, and dabbled in journalism at UC Berkeley. She has been writing since she can remember, journaling her every insight or creating stories with talking animals.
