South Korean actress Song Yoo-jung has died at the age of 26.

“Actress Song Yoo-jung has left us,” Sublime Artist Agency wrote in an Instagram post.

“Yoo-jung was a friend who always gave us happiness with a bright smile, and an awesome actress who acted with a passion bigger than anyone.”

Song died on 23 January but no cause of death was disclosed.

Her funeral took place quietly as per her family’s wishes.

Song started her career in the public eye in 2013 as a model for Estée Lauder before starring in TV drama Golden Rainbow.

2019’s romantic fantasy drama Dear My Name was Song’s final role in which she played the lead character.

The young actress’s death follows a string of suicides among South Korean stars.

Last year, Kpop star Goo Hara took her own life one month after the suicide of her close friend and Kpop star Sulli.
