"The doll makes me feel less lonely eating by myself"
Insider reports a restaurant in Thailand is using stuffed pandas to maintain social distancing measures amid the Coronavirus pandemic.
Maison Saigon, a Vietnamese restaurant in Bangkok, initially enforced one chair per table.
However, customers felt isolated so the owner decided to provide stuff animals for company.
“Earlier we had only one chair for the tables where the customer came alone,”Maison Saigon owner Natthwut Rodchanapanthku said.
“But for me, it felt strange, so I thought I’d give them some company.”
Thailand eased some of its lockdown restrictions on 3 May but restaurants are still required to follow social-distancing rules.
Diners have welcomed the concept, revealing that the stuffed animals are good company.
“The doll makes me feel less lonely eating by myself,” diner Sawit Chaiphuek said.
