KpopStarz reports that Korean American rapper Jay Park has condemned president Trump for “racial language” against Asian Americans.

The 32-year-old singer stated that the president needs to be concerned about the safety of the its people during the Coronavirus pandemic.

“In my opinion, a president is a leader, and a leader is accountable and should take responsibility for his people,” he said.

“As the president of the United States, he should be concerned about the safety of the People of the united states. People in America originate in all varieties of ethnicities, and that involves Asian Americans.”

The rapper particularly took issue with the Trump calling the Coronavirus ‘The Chinese Virus’.

The term, which the WHO itself discouraged people to use, has been scrutinised for exacerbating racism towards Chinese people.

Although President Trump has since stated that the virus is “not the fault of Asian Americans”, he  came under fire for repeatedly referring to the virus as “Chinese”.

At one point, the president even went as far as saying Asian Americans “would 100% agree” with calling the Coronavirus “The Chinese Virus”.

“In these trying times wherein Asian-American people are not only threatened and harassed, what the US President did was reckless and immoral,” Park said.

“Instead of protecting his people, he insulted them more,” Park continued.

“He stepped out in public and called COVID-19 a “Chinese” virus as if the racism these Asian-American people get in the streets is not enough.”

Fox News also repeatedly used the term despite the increasing number of attacks on Asian Americans during this period.

Rep Judy Chu recently revealed there are 100 incidents of targeted racial hate a day towards Asian Americans as a consequence of Coronavirus racism.

In related news, Instagram personality Dan Bilzerian was criticised by a fan about calling Coronavirus the “Chinese virus”, who he later told to “shut the fuck up.”
