Sint-Paulusschool has since deleted their social media accounts
A Belgian school has come under fire for posting a picture of their students dressed in stereotypical Chinese hats and posing with racist gestures.
Instagram account broodjekaasmetsambal shared the image in which the children are holding up a sign that reads “Corona Time” – referencing the ongoing Coronavirus. One student is even seen pulling back her eyes.
“For the non-Dutch readers, this picture was posted and later on deleted by @collegewaregem (a high school located in Belgium),” the post read.
The school in question has been identified as Sint-Paulusschool located in Waregem, which is in the Belgian province of West Flanders.
Instagram account Asians Never Die also shared the image, attracting a number of comments that criticised the school and its students.
“So none of the 19 people in this photo thinks this might be problematic?!?” Wrote one Instagrammer.
“Sounds about white,” commented another.
“i bet they thought they were so funny lmao,” one person replied.
The school has since deleted their Instagram and Facebook accounts.
In related news, Fox News is continuing to call COVID-19 ‘The Chinese Coronavirus‘ during a time when Asians are being racially attacked.
