Pack of 50 ‘3-ply surgical masks’ sells for almost £340 on Amazon amid Coronavirus fears

A seller on Amazon.co.uk is currently selling 50-piece pack of 3-ply surgical masks for almost £340 amid the Coronavirus panic.

Described as ‘NiceButy 50 Piece Blue 3-Ply Disposable Dust/Surgical Masks,Universal Fit, Hypoallergenic, Latex Free Dust Mask’, the set is being sold for £324.94 plus £15.00, totalling £339.94.

The pack of 50 is being sold by a company called Mega Soft Line, which has an 82% positive lifetime review.

Another company called Suki’s Cash & Carry is offering the same set of 50 3-ply surgical masks for £299 with free delivery. Suki’s Cash & Carry has a 100% positive review in the last 12 months.

The UK is currently facing a shortage of surgical masks due to the recent Coronavirus outbreak.

Prior to the virus outbreak, a pack of 50 3-ply masks could be found for as low as £3.99. 3-ply masks are currently believed to be the best form of protection against contamination of the virus.

Earlier today, the UK reported its first confirmed case of the Coronavirus when two people people from the same family have tested positive for the virus.

The death toll from the Coronavirus currently stands at 213 with 9,600 confirmed cases globally,

Coronavirus test kits were recently likened to “winning lottery tickets” in Wuhan.

Meanwhile, a 62-year-old Chinese doctor in Wuhan has died after treating patients for the virus.
