Gold House is officially entering the content production space with the launch of Gold House Studios, a new film, television, and digital media division led by industry veterans Christine Yi and Brian Nemes. The expansion marks a significant step for the influential cultural platform, with its debut slate led by Akiya, a horror feature starring Karen Fukuhara.

Over the past eight years, Gold House has played a major role in shaping box office momentum and cultural visibility for Asian-led projects, supporting more than 800 film releases including Crazy Rich Asians and Everything Everywhere All At Once. With Gold House Studios, the company is moving beyond advocacy into original content creation, with a focus on high-impact storytelling and global audience reach.

“Akiya,” the studio’s flagship launch project, stars Karen Fukuhara (The Boys) alongside Robbie Amell (Upload, Code 8). The film follows a married couple who relocate to Japan to renovate an abandoned countryside home, only to discover it is haunted by yōkai and a demon woman known as Yotsume Baba. Written and directed by Austin Osanai Everett, Akiya is produced in partnership with Ranger 7 and Collective Pictures.

Gold House Studios is helmed by Christine Yi, who leads the studio, and Brian Nemes, who oversees IP and development. Both will produce across the company’s growing slate of film and television projects.

“Too many great films pull off a small miracle to get made only to go unseen,” says Yi, who previously led operations at Gold House Ventures and continues to serve as General Manager of Gold House Labs. “As an impact-driven company, one of our top priorities is to develop compelling stories with leading roles for Asian Pacific talent and rich, nuanced, cultural context that feels novel or unexpected. But our highest priority measure of ‘impact’ will be our ability to reach audiences and resonate well beyond our own community.”

In addition to Akiya, the studio’s film slate includes This Way to Home, a road trip dramedy from writer-director Mel Mah. On the television side, Gold House Studios is developing American Yokai, an atmospheric horror series from Legends of Tomorrow showrunner Keto Shimizu.

IP-driven content is a central pillar of Gold House Studios’ strategy. The company has secured film rights to Slitterhead, the cult Japanese video game from Bokeh Game Studio created by Silent Hill creator Keiichiro Toyama, in partnership with Ranger 7, JEA, and Striker Entertainment. Additional IP-based projects are currently in development.

Beyond scripted projects, Gold House is also expanding into unscripted content, with a new digital series set to begin filming in New York City later this year.

The launch builds on Gold House’s previous work in financing and production, including Sean Wang’s Didi, Vera Miao’s Rock Springs, and Grammy winner Laufey’s music video for Madwoman.

“For years, Gold House has helped prove that culture isn’t a niche nor decorative—it’s mainstream infrastructure. Gold House Studios reflects our belief that stories remain the most powerful force for human connection. In a time when audiences are fragmented across platforms, algorithms, and identities, great storytelling still has the ability to bring strangers into the same conversation, the same emotion, and the same future.” said Bing Chen, Gold House CEO & Co-Founder.

With Karen Fukuhara-led Akiya anchoring its launch and a growing slate of original and IP-driven projects, Gold House Studios is positioning itself as a new force in global entertainment — one focused on scaling culturally grounded stories to wider audiences.
