Greta Lee’s upcoming sci-fi thriller The Last House is officially set for a global release on Netflix, with the streaming platform confirming an August 7 premiere date for the highly anticipated film.
The Past Lives star leads the project alongside Wagner Moura in what marks a darker, more contained turn for the actress. Directed by Louis Leterrier (Fast X, Now You See Me), The Last House — previously titled 11817 — centres on a family of four trapped inside their home as resources dwindle and a mysterious presence prevents their escape.
The film leans into psychological tension and isolation, with early images pointing to a stripped-back, high-stakes setting that places its characters under relentless pressure. For Lee, it’s another strategic step into genre storytelling following a string of critically acclaimed performances.
After earning an Oscar nomination for Past Lives, Lee has continued to expand her range with roles in Tron: Ares and A House of Dynamite. She is also widely recognised for her television work in Russian Doll and The Morning Show, the latter earning her an Emmy nomination.

Her upcoming slate reflects that same versatility. Lee is set to voice Lilypad in Disney Pixar’s Toy Story 5, a role described as balancing humour with an undercurrent of quiet menace. Disney Pixar’s press notes hint that her performance walks a tightrope between satire and sincerity — a fitting embodiment of the modern child’s relationship with screens. She will also appear in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, further cementing her presence across major franchise ecosystems.
Opposite her, Moura brings awards-season momentum following his Academy Award-nominated performance in The Secret Agent. His past credits include Civil War, The Gray Man and series such as Narcos and Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

Behind the scenes, Leterrier directs from a script by Matthew Robinson (Love and Monsters), with production from Chernin Entertainment and 3 Arts Entertainment. Producers include Leterrier, Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, Kori Adelson and Oly Obst.
As Netflix continues investing in high-concept, character-driven thrillers, The Last House positions Greta Lee at the centre of a tense, claustrophobic story — one that relies heavily on her ability to anchor emotional depth under pressure.
