Prime Video has released the latest trailer for Butterfly, a new spy thriller series starring Daniel Dae Kim. The program, adapted from a graphic novel series by Arash Amel, features Kim in the lead role of David Jung, a former U.S. intelligence operative now living in South Korea. His life, having been intentionally quiet, is disrupted when consequences from a difficult past decision surface.

The series explores complex family dynamics within the high-stakes world of international espionage. David Jung finds himself pursued by Rebecca, a young agent assigned to eliminate him, who, to his surprise, turns out to be his long-lost daughter. Rebecca, portrayed by Reina Hardesty, believed her father was dead, making their reunion fraught with personal and professional conflict.

A Collision of Past and Present

The trailer for Butterfly opens with David Jung approaching Rebecca, his voice urging, “You can’t keep living this life. At some point you start to lose yourself. That’s why I came back for you.” Rebecca responds with a gun pointed at him, highlighting the deep betrayal she feels, stating, “You let me grow up thinking that you’d been killed.” David insists his disappearance was for her protection.
