Constance Wu to star in Asian American author’s ‘Goodbye, Vitamin’ film adaptation

Constance Wu will star in a film adaptation of Rachel Khong’s debut novel Goodbye Vitamin.

Variety reports the Crazy Rich Asians star Constance Wu will star in Asian American author Rachel Khong’s 2017 debut novel Goodbye Vitamin.

Wu stars as Goodbye Vitamin’s lead character Ruth Young who’s father is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Young works with her father’s former student to create a fake class for him to teach.

Goodbye Vitamin was named Best Book of the Year by a number of outlets including Vogue, NPR, EW, Buzzfeed and The Independent. the novel also won the California Book Award for First Fiction.

Dylan Clark will produce with Jennifer Yee McDevitt and Wu as executive producer.

In other news, Wu was recently criticised for expressing frustration at the renewal of her TV series Fresh Off The Boat.
