Chinese American actress Lucy Liu will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2019.

According to Xinhua, Lucy Liu will be given her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2019.

The announcement was made on Monday by entertainment industry professionals, who added dozens of actors to the list including Daniel Craig, Robert De Niro, Guillermo del Toro and Anne Hathaway.

“I know the fans, tourists and the Hollywood community will be pleased with our selections. We are excited to see each and every honoree’s face as they unveil that majestic star on Hollywood’s most famous walkway!” Television Producer and Walk of Famer Vin Di Bona said at a press conference.

Liu will be recognised for her television work throughout her career. First known for her role in Ally McBeal, Liu is currently known for starring in and directing Elementary, as well as directing the season 2 premier of Luke Cage.

The 49-year-old also starred in a number of films including Charlie’s Angels, Kill Bill, Chicago, Shanghai Noon and Kung Fu Panda 3.

Born in Queens, New York, Liu was raised by her biochemist mother Cecilia from Beijing and civil engineer father Tom Liu from Shanghai.

Liu only learned English at the age of 5 and spoke Mandarin at home.

he Hollywood Walk of Fame Class of 2019 consists of four divisions, including Motion Pictures, Television, Recording and Live theatre/Live Performance. In her professional career, “she has always tried to balance an interest in her cultural heritage with a desire to move beyond a strictly Asian-American experience.”

Most recently Netflix romcom Set It Up starring Liu and Taye Diggs was released on 15 June 2018.
