A Hong Kong tourist was amongst the 80 injured in yesterday’s terrorist attack in Barcelona.

Xinhua reports that the Consulate General of China in Barcelona confirmed the tourist was “slightly injured” during the attack.

In a statement posted on its website, the consulate added no other Chinese citizens were reported to be victims of the attack.

13 people were killed and 80 were injured after a van drove into crowds in the Las Ramblas area of Barcelona. The famous street is a popular tourist zone in the centre of Barcelona.

The consulate also advised all Chinese citizens to not approach the area. Those who were in the area already should keep calm and follow police instructions.

Chinese citizens were provided with a phone number to call the consulate general – 0034-688306666.

Channel News Asia reports there were 34 nationalities amongst the victims, including France, Pakistan, Spain, the Netherlands, China, Venezuela, Mauritania, Australia and Britain.
