Donnie Yen will join the cast of he cast of the upcoming movie adaptation of Square Enix’s video game Sleeping Dogs.

According to Gamespot, Yen will star as a yet-unnamed undercover cop who takes on the Triads.

The film will be produced by Original Film and DJ2 Entertainment with producers Neal Moritz, Dmitri Johnson, and Dan Jevons.

Set in Hong Kong, the undercover police cop’s mission is to take down the notoriously powerful and dangerous criminal gangs, the Triads. “The movie based on an action video game is set in Hong Kong and focuses on martial arts fighting, racing, boat chases … and shooting while doing all of that,” reports Deadline.

It is unclear how closely the film will follow the video game’s plot line or even if Yen’s character is the same protagonist featured in the game, Wei Shen. The original game set in contemporary Hong Kong saw players control Wei Shen, an undercover Hong Kong-American police officer who infiltrates the Sun On Yee Triad organisation.

Sleeping Dogs was originally released in 2012 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, with a Definitive Edition released in 2014.
