Japan’s Narita airport has installed toilet paper for your smartphone.

The ‘toilet roll’ dispenses wipes for customers to clean their devices. According to a promotional video by the telecoms company behind the service, NTT Docomo, smartphones carry 5 times as many germs as a toilet seat does.

The smartphone sheets read “welcome to Japan” and provide other airport information such as wifi details and access to a travel guide app that offers voice translation services.

So far 86 cubicles feature the smartphone cleaning service in Narita’s arrivals hall.

NNT Docomo is trialing the service until 15 March 2017.

Surveys suggest that foreign visitors are impressed with Japan’s cleanliness and versatility with regards to their toilets.
