Police in Guri, Gyeonggi Province, announced on Friday that they will not pursue charges of attempted murder or assault against the actress Nana. The decision ends a legal ordeal that began when the man who broke into her home filed a shocking countersuit from jail.

The Guri Police Station reviewed the case and concluded that the actress, whose real name is Im Jin-ah, acted purely in self-defense. They determined her actions were a lawful response to a direct threat.

A 6 A.M. Nightmare

The incident took place last November when a man in his 30s used a ladder to scale Nana’s apartment building. He entered through an unlocked balcony door around 6 a.m. while carrying a bladed weapon.

Once inside, the intruder assaulted Nana’s mother and began choking her while demanding money. Nana woke up to her mother’s screams and jumped into the struggle to stop the attack. During the fight, the intruder suffered a cut to his jaw.

The suspect was arrested and sent to prosecutors on robbery charges. However, in December, he filed a complaint from his detention center. He claimed he was the victim of “attempted murder” and argued that Nana had used a weapon against him.

Because of the complaint, police had to formally book the former After School singer as a suspect and bring her in for questioning. This process sparked public outrage, with many fans arguing that a victim was being “re-victimized” by a transparent legal stunt.

Finding Strength After the Ordeal

After the investigation concluded, Nana spoke about the mental toll of the case. “It was extremely difficult to process everything, especially after hearing I was being accused while going through such a traumatic experience,” she shared. Despite the stress, she reassured her supporters: “I won’t let this break me. I will stay strong.”

Police investigators stayed firm on their initial findings. They noted that the level of force used was reasonable given that the assailant was armed and actively harming her family. The intruder remains in custody as his robbery trial continues.
