Thailand’s highest-grossing film of 2024, How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies, is set for a global theatrical release. The film, which follows a young man’s attempt to inherit his dying grandmother’s fortune, has struck a chord with audiences in Southeast Asia and Australia, earning a staggering $34 million.

The film has secured theatrical distribution in several major markets, including North America (Sept. 13, via Well Go USA), South Korea (October, NK Contents), UK and Ireland (December, Vertigo Releasing), the Netherlands (Oct. 10, Vedette Film), Belgium (Nov. 13, Vedette Film) and India (TBD, PVR).

Nelson Mok, the film’s sales agent, expressed his enthusiasm for the global release: “It’s very heartening to see distributors eager to bring the film to their audiences, even though Southeast Asian films haven’t been commercially proven in some of these territories. Clearly, the story has touched them deeply.”

Doris Pfardrescher, President and CEO of Well Go USA, echoed this sentiment, describing the film as “an incredibly touching, universal story that transcends cultural and generational differences.”

The film’s success is not limited to Asia-Pacific. It has also made history in Europe. Babette Wijntjes, co-founder of Vedette Film, remarked: “Never before has a Thai box office hit, outside of international film festivals, been released in the Benelux. But now, for the first time, we’re excited to introduce Dutch and Belgian audiences to this unique and emotional film.”

How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies is the directorial debut of Pat Boonnitipat and stars singer-actor Putthipong Assaratanakul (aka Billkin) and 78-year-old actress Usha Seamkhum in her debut role. The film is produced by GDH 559, the studio behind the 2017 breakout hit Bad Genius.
