Henry Golding has teased the sequel to A Simple Favor to fans, saying the script is much crazier than the 2018 original.

In an interview with Variety, Golding said, “The script has gone completely off the rails. It’s not just Blake’s character anymore. The craziness has been dialled up to eleven.”

Golding reprises his role as Blake Lively’s husband-turned-Anna Kendrick’s lover with Paul Feig returning as director.

Currently in post-production, A Simple Favor 2 was filmed in Italy. “Paul is in the editing room right now,” Golding shared. “Every now and then, he sends me a message like, ‘This scene is absolutely nuts!’”

Golding admitted he never anticipated a sequel during the filming of the first movie. “Everyone thought it was going to be a one-off,” he admitted. “But the audience loved it, and there was such fanfare. It’s become a guilty pleasure for many.”

Feig revealed exclusively in May that they scrapped the original sequel script. “We decided to start fresh,” he recalled. “As much as we liked the first draft, we felt it wasn’t what the fans really wanted. We’ve been working on it for nearly three years now, trying to get it just right.”

A Simple Favor 2 wrapped in late May. New cast members include Tony winner Alex Newell and Oscar winner and frequent Feig collaborator Allison Janney. The film’s release date is confirmed for 2025.

Golding also discussed wrapping up filming season 2 of Nine Perfect Strangers with Nicole Kidman. “I wouldn’t call her Method in that sense, but switching in and out of the accent wasn’t easy,” he said of Kidman.
