Netflix has dropped a sneak peek from Squid Game season 2 as part of the streaming service’s slate trailer.

Set to release later this year, Squid Game season 2 follows up on the South Korean series that gained widespread popularity and critical acclaim in 2021.

The survival thriller, created by Hwang Dong-hyuk, follows Gi-hun’s (Lee Jung-jae) decision to stay in Seoul and expose the organization behind deadly games instead of starting fresh abroad after winning the competition in season 1.

In the short clip, viewers are offered a glimpse into season 2’s storyline, featuring an ominous phone call received by Gi-hun. “I will find you,” Gi-Hun unnervingly replies.

Hwang suggests Gi-hun’s choice isn’t solely about revenge but reflects his desire to confront societal issues.

Gi-hun confronted The Old Man in a hospital room in the finale of season 1, with the pair betting to see if kindness and humanity can outweigh selfishness. The season ends with Gi-hun determined to make those responsible for the game pay for their atrocities.

Season 2 will see the return of Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-jun, Gong Yoo, and director Hwang, who won an Emmy for season 1.

Netflix has confirmed Squid Game season 2 will stream in late 2024 but no exact date has been revealed yet.
