Jordan Vogt-Roberts is set to direct a live-action Gundam movie for Netflix.

Roberts, who directed Kong: Skull Island will on the unnamed project with screenwriter  and executive producer Brian K Vaughn (Y: The Last Man, Runaways).

First mention of the live-action project surfaced in 2018 but information has remained thin since.

Details about the film’s plot still remain limited and it is unclear whether the film will take place in the Universal Century Gundam universe.

Nonetheless, fans should expect “gigantic battles as the armies of the space colonies wage a war of independence against those still on Earth,” according to IGN.

The film will stream exclusively on Netflix globally except in China where Legendary will distribute.

In other film news, Lucy Liu is joining Shazam! Fury of the Gods as a villain.
