CNN reports that presidential candidate Andrew Yang has qualified for the December Democratic debate stage.

Yang earned 4% in the latest Quinnipiac University national poll, which was enough to push him through to the next round.

Democratic presidential candidates needed at least 4% in at least four national or early state polls that meet the DNC’s criteria or 6% in two early state polls.

Donations from at least 200,000 unique donors, with a minimum of 800 from at least 20 different states are also required.

The 44-year-old businessman is currently running to be the first Asian American US president. He will join six other Democrats in the next debate: Joe Biden, Pete Buttigieg, Amy Klobuchar, Bernie Sanders, Tom Steyer and Elizabeth Warren.

Taking place on 19 December, the debate will be the final Democratic National Committee-sanctioned debate of 2019.

Earlier this year, SNL fired one of their comedians for after his racist remarks about Yang re-surfaced on the internet.
