Variety reports that Battle of Jangsari starring Megan Fox and Choi Min-ho of K-pop boy band SHINee will be released in the US and Canada.

WellGo USA will distribute the Korean war action film in North America.

Fox plays war correspondent Marguerite Higgins and Min-ho plays a soldier. The plot revolves around a guerrilla army unit comprising of 772 student soldiers who are destined towards Jangsari.

Led by Captain Lee Myung-Joon (Kim Myung-Min), the crew’s mission is to deceive the North Koreans into thinking that the opposition would launch an invasion there. The real invasion will take place in Incheon one day after.

The film, which already screened privately for buyers at the Toronto Film Festival, will be released in the US on 4 October – one week after its release in Korea.

“We bought ‘Jangsari’ on promo alone, because of its compelling and true story. Also having Megan Fox in a role, we’ll hopefully bring in crossover audiences in US and Canada,” said WellGo president Doris Pfardrescher in a statement.
