The Washington Post reports that a wave machine at Shuiyun Water Park, China, accidentally launched a tsunami.

On Sunday, the wave machine at the northern China waterpark malfunctioned and instead of pushing out a gentle wave, a tsunami sized wave was launched.

A video capturing the incident showed the huge wave that flipped children and adults in the pool. Some were launched out of the pool, hitting the pavement.

44 people were injured in the accident, which was caused by a malfunction according to park officials.

The officials denied that the the worker operating the machine was drunk, as originally suspected.
