Brad Pitt and Quentin Tarantino have discussed the Bruce Lee fight scene from Once Upon A Time In Hollywood

Brad Pitt and Quentin Tarantino have talked to SCMP about the Bruce Lee fight scene in Tarantino’s latest film.

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood is the ninth film directed by Tarantino. The comedy-adrama film has an A-list cast including Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Al Pacino and Margot Robbie.

In the film’s trailer, a Pitt’s character Cliff Booth is seen fighting Bruce Lee, played by Mike Moh.

Discussing the bizarre scene, Tarantino said the fight demonstrated how “bad ass” Pitt’s character is.

“If you’re going to try to set up how indestructible a person is, having them fight Bruce Lee and doing a good job [is the way to do it],” the 56-year-old director said. “He could either fight Bruce Lee or Jim Brown … either one would really set up [that] the guy is a bad ass. I like the fact most of that whole fight scene is done in one shot – that’s the part I was proud of.”

Pitt expressed how surprised he was about the scene. “I never saw that one coming,” he said. “And of course … no-one could win!”

Talking about Moh, Pitt added, “he said ‘I can’t keep doing this, I’ve got to put my family first’ … then saw this role, and put his name in the hat and got it.”

Set in 1989 LA, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood  ells the story of TV star Rick Dalton (DiCaprio) and stunt double Cliff Booth (Pitt) who navigate through the changing ways of the film industry.

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood will be released on 26 July 2019.
