Michelle Yeoh gets role in James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ Sequels

Michelle Yeoh has been signed up for a role in the sequels to James Cameron’s Avatar. 

Star Trek actress Michelle Yeoh has been given a role in James Cameron’s Avatar sequels.

Confirmed through a tweet on Avatar‘s official Twitter account, Yeoh will play Dr. Karina Mogue. No other information was given about her character.

In a post on Instagram, Yeoh wrote, “I am very very excited to be part of “Avatar” franchise and can’t wait to work with legendary James Cameron soon.”

She also quoted Cameron who said of the Malaysian actress, “Throughout her career, Michelle has always created unique and memorable characters. I look forward to working with Michelle to do the same thing on the ‘Avatar’ sequels.” 

Yeoh will be joined by Sopranos star Edie Falco, who will play General Ardmore. Vin Diesel and Kate Winslet will also have roles in the upcoming sequels but not much is known about their characters.

Cameron has reportedly planned four Avatar sequels but again, not much is known about their plots.

Avatar 2 is due for release on 18 December 2020, with Avatar 3 arriving the following year.

In other news, Yeoh recently said she was “disappointed” that no female directors were nominated for the Oscars.
