The first reality show with an all-Asian American cast is being released.

According to Manila Standard, the first reality TV show with an all-Asian American cast, The People’s Queen, is being released.

Presented by ABS-CBN International, The People’s Queen is the first US produced reality show featuring an all-Asian American cast.

Described as a cross between Queer Eye for the Straight Guy and America’s Next Top Model, the new show is taking the pageant world by storm.

The People’s Queen puts five beauty pageant hopefuls together in a mansion for six weeks with two top coaches and a team of fashion specialists and media experts.

Filipino-American director Cecilio Asuncion and Voltaire Tayag will host the show as five of the top Filipino pageant hopefuls compete for international titles.

“The pageant community is looking to redefine its role in an era of female empowerment and gender equality,” Asuncion explains.

“In order to triumph, pageant contestants are required to dig deep within their souls, confront unresolved personal issues and overcome self-doubt,” says Tayag.

Asuncion is also the Director of Slay Model Management – the world’s first all-Transgender model agency. He was additionally a judge of the Miss Universe 2017 pageant in Las Vegas and even hosted 2018’s Miss Teen USA pageant in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Tayang is a fashion designer and pageant journalist and trainer.

The People’s Queen is serving a demand for Asian representation according to its network.

“American audiences are craving multiculturalism in their televised programming and are especially interested in seeing more Asian representation,” says ABS-CBN Global COO Olivia De Jesus.

The show will be shown globally on Myx TV on 24 October and on TFC on cable, satellite, TFC online and Lifestyle Network on 27 October in North America, Europe and Middle East.
