True Detective director Cary Fukunaga will take on the next James Bond film.

According to Variety, director Cary Fukunaga will direct the next James Bond movie.

Also known for Jane Eyre, Fukunaga will replace Danny Boyle as the latest director of the Bond film franchise.

Currently untitled, Fukunaga’s Bond film will be the 25th film in the spy-action series. The film has an estimated release date of 8 November 2019.

Daniel Craig will return as the British MI5 hero whilst Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris and Rory Kinnear will reprise their roles as Q, Moneypenny and Tanner respectively.

Fukunaga is best known for directing the first season of True Detective and Jane Eyre. He also produced TV mini series Maniac, African child soldier film Beasts of No Nation and TB series The Alienist.

The Japanese American is also known for walking away from horror remake It, which became a success for Andy Muschietti.
