Ken Jeong to star in Australian sci-fi sequel ‘Occupation: Rainfall’

Ken Jeong will star in Australian sci-fi film Occupation: Rainfall.

Variety reports that Crazy Rich Asians actor Ken Jeong will star in the upcoming sequel to the Australian sci-fi film Occupation.

Titled Occupation: Rainfall, the sequel to the 2018 film takes place two years after the intergalactic invasion of earth. Survivors of the event in Sydney engage in a ground war, battling with unexpected allies to end the war.

Jeong will play a lead character in the film. “We’re building a whole new world with ‘Occupation: Rainfall’ and to have Ken join the film alongside our awesome returning cast members is mind blowing,” director Luk Sparke said. “I’ve admired his work and his successes for years and can’t wait to see what brings to the project when he arrives here to shoot in October.”

Shooting begins in October in Australian locations including the Gold Coast and the Hunter Valley.

Temuera Morrison (Aquaman), Dan Ewing, Stephany Jacobsen, Aaron Jeffery, Zac Garred, Izzy Stephens, Trystan Go, Lawrence Makoare, Vince Colosimo and Tamala Shelton will also feature in the cast.

Occupation: Rainfall will be produced by mother-daughter duo Carly & Carmel Imrie whilst Todd Williams will is co-executive produce

Grant Hardie of Monster Pictures said, “We see massive growth potential for the franchise, the ‘Occupation’ team did an amazing job with the first film so we naturally wanted to be on-board for the sequel. Working together we hope to deliver the biggest science fiction blockbuster Australian audiences have ever seen.”

In recent news, a hashtag was trending for Ken Jeong to play Superman.
