A Turkish Who Wants To Be A Millionaire contestant used two lifelines to answer where the Great Wall of China is.

According to Hurriyet Daily News, a Turkish TV contestant used two lifelines on a question about the location of the Great Wall of China.

Su Ahyan appeared on the Turkish edition of Who Wants to Be Millionaire on 4 August and was asked in the fourth question, “where is the Wall of China?”

“I know the answer but I’d like to ask the audience,” the economics graduate from Istanbul responded.

Only 51% of the audience gave the correct answer, whilst the others chose India, South Korea, or Japan.

The 26-year-old then used her second lifeline and phoned a friend who gave her the correct answer. Unfortunately, Ahyan was eliminated in the following question about the composer of a popular Turkish song.

Ahyan has been since criticised online.

“I hope many people in the audience failed to answer the question thinking it was too easy to be asked, setting a trap,” wrote Hürriyet columnist Ahmet Hakan two days after. “Otherwise, this huge ignorance problem cannot be solved, even with our new Education Minister Ziya Selçuk.”

“What kind of education system do you have in Turkey,” a Beijing-based Twitter account reportedly tweeted.

In response, Ayhan simply said, “I could use my lifelines whenever I wanted.”
