Asian-American led short film Ella has been released online.

Crazy Rich Asians and Searching may be stealing all the headlines this month, but there’s another Asian-American led film you need to watch.

Last year, we reported that a Kickstarter campaign had begun for Asian-American led film called Ella. Now, the short film has been released online.

Ella takes place in a small American town and follows the lives of Abe and Ella who form an unlikely bond. Abe is a high school recluse and Ella is a charismatic college dropout. Together they navigate the streets and social groups of their community.

The film stars Nichole Bloom (NBC’s Superstore) and is directed Dan Chen. Eric Cook and Douglas Kim produced the film.

Ella recently screened at  the Kansas City Film Festival and the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival.

The project has since made its online premiere on the platform Short of the Week, visit the site to watch the entire film.
