Stars On Ice is being led by prominent Asian American Olympic medalists from Team USA.

To celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Stars On Ice is featuring Asian Americans from2018 Winter Olympics’s Team USA.

The line up includes 2018 Olympic Bronze Medalists Nathan Chen, Mirai Nagasu and siblings Maia and Alex Shiutani, as well as US Champion Karen Chen.

Other prominent Team USA athletes featured on the show includes Olympic Bronze medalists Adam Rippon, Bradie Tennell, Madison Hubbell and Zachary Donohue. Gold Medalists include Meryl Davis and Charlie White. Silver Medalist Ashley Wagner and US Champion Jason Brown were also featured.

“We’re taking on the world, I feel like. We’re taking on the US.” Arcadia native Mirai Nagasu said according to NBC. “Now, it’s like a wave.”

“Growing up, I didn’t have a lot of Asian American role models to look up to,” Nagasu added. “For me, I’m all about the culture and representing the Japanese American community as well, and so, to see Asian Americans on the rise really means a lot to me.”

Nathan Chen said, “growing up in a Chinese family, I never really thought that I’d be able to make the Olympics. That wasn’t really an agenda for my parents.”

“They just wanted all of their kids, me and my siblings, to just have a good life, to be happy. Obviously, education was very important.”

Stars On Ice skater Vincent Zhou added, “I think lots of Asian kids don’t see themselves as role models.”

In related news, Nathan Chen was recently named in the inaugural list of 100 influential Asian Americans.
