Steve Aoki has confirmed that he will collaborate with BTS to release new music in 2018.

In a recent interview with Trending Live, Aoki was asked about how he ended up collaborating with the Kpop boy band. “I met them in LA a while back,” Aoki explained. “It’s always about just hanging out and just talking about music, seeing if there’s a connection.”

Aoki revealed that he then met up with BTS‘ production team in Korea. “I went to Korea, met up with the production team. We also linked up on the music side and came back to my studio in LA and Vegas and worked on the MIC Drop remix, that was the start.”

The DJ, who is set to play at Washington’s Echostage next month, added “[BTS and I have] got some new music coming out for 2018.”

“We got this remix to put out there, but now we have some original music too,” he said.

Describing the BTS members, Aoki said, “they’re all different personalities and they’re all live! You hang out with them in a room and they’re throwing in their thing. It’s a like a party.”

The MIC Drop remix was released in November 2017 and reached No. 1 on iTunes’ Top Songs charts in 46 other countries, including Argentina, Canada and Thailand, one day after it was released.

Towards the end of last year, BTS made history by being the first Korean boy band to perform at the American Music Awards.
