A television show in Columbia has been criticised for making a racist gesture during a broadcast about BTS.

The Korean Herald reports that the host of Dia a Dia was introducing BTS‘ latest music on the show. Whilst imitating the K-pop group’s dance moves, a man behind the presenter lifts up the corners of his eyes to make a “slant eyes”gesture.

A video clip of the incident has been shared around social media.

Twitter user ARMY (fan club of BTS) Colombia apologised on the platform, “In our country, (it) is not very common to talk about Asian culture. We are working very hard for the Asian culture (to be) much more recognized and for referring to them properly and respectfully.”

Another user wrote, “I would rather hope BTS stay in Korea if this is what they receive in other countries. The following pic is a program of colombia called ‘Dia a Dia’ All people are equal. No whitepeople can ever have the right to do that gesture. Stop whitewashing BTS. Love yourself.  “

In other news, BTS are set to perform on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and Jimmy Kimmel Live! later this month.
