The first ever kid’s book about ramen will be released in November.

Written by comic book veterans Phil Amara and Oliver Chin and illustrated by the professional animator Juan Calle, The Discovery of Ramen will launch its first series: ‘The Asian Hall of Fame’.

The story follows Dao, a red panda who can travel in time. Befriending curious kids Ethan and Emma, Dao transports his new friends to Asia where they discover Asian creations.

In their debut story, the characters discover a tasty bowl of noodles. Having never eaten ramen before, Dao brings them back in time to discover the history of the ramen noodle.

Travelling back to the 1800’s in Japan, the trio come across push cart vendors in Tokyo whilst witnessing the rise of instant ramen, cup noodles and four star restaurants and celebrity chefs.

Oliver Chin recently wrote The Year of the Rooster from the popular annual children’s book series Tales from the Chinese Zodiac, Julie Black Belt, and Welcome to Monster Isle.

Phil Amara was an editor at Dark Horse Comics, and wrote The Nevermen, The Treehouse Heroes, and So, You Wanna Be A Comic Book Artist?

The project was launched through a Kickstarter in August 2017, successfully reaching its goal of $6000 in just a few months.

The Discovery of Ramen will be released on 15 November. Click here to pre-order and buy.
