Three Brits have been convicted in Singapore for sexual assault after gang-raping an unconscious 23 year old woman.

The Star reports that Khong Tam Tanh, Le Michael and Vu Thai Son, pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a drunken Malaysian woman during a stag party in Singapore.

Khong, 22, Le and Vu, both 24 are British citizens of Vietnamese origin.

Originally charged with rape, the three Brits admitted the lesser offence of sexual assault at the city-state’s High Court after a four-day trial.

Sexual assault carries a penalty of up to 10 years jail and caning.

The three men had attended electronic music festival Ultra Singapore in September as part of a bachelor party.

Friend of the three men, Richard Ahn met the 23-year-old woman at a nightclub and took her to his hotel room. The pair had consensual sex.

Afterwards, Khong, Le and Vu took turns to enter the room to have sex with the woman who was lying drunk and unconscious.

The woman woke up as Le was assaulting her, despite the men trying to make as little noise as possible.

Prosecutors asked for a prison sentence of between five and seven years.

“The offender must pay for what he has done… (In this case), they clearly exploited the victim,” said deputy public prosecutor G. Kannan.

Khong and Vu were convicted with an additional charge of sexual assault by using their fingers to penetrate the woman.

“(Khong) was rash, he was reckless, and now he regrets it,” his lawyer Shashi Nathan told the court.

He also offered the victim SGD$5,000 in compensation. The woman has accepted.
