Kohey Nishi is an adult Japanese porn star whose marketable feature is his resemblance to a child.
In an interview with Vice, the 24-year-old producer and actor said he intentionally markets himself as someone who looks like a child. “There is no one who is an adult and looks like a kid more than me! And not just for the porn industry. You cannot cast actual kids sometimes [in non-pornographic content], so I’d like to fill the gap in that market.”
With a height of 109cm [3’6″], Nishi suffers was diagnosed with mucopolysaccharidosis, a progressive incurable disease, which was remedied by a marrow-bone transplant. Furthermore, Nishi suffers from the effects of rhabdomyosarcoma and a brain tumour. As a result, he cannot stand on his own feet for more than five minutes or open a plastic bottle.
“I have become used to my condition because I have lived in it since I was little,” Nishi said. “Though sometimes I need somebody’s help, I can also handle these difficulties with my knowledge. For example, I can open a plastic bottle with a pair of nippers.”
He also fears that he may be paralyzed from the neck down because of his weak neck. “My only anxiety is about my neck. It’s too weak so I may be paralyzed from neck down if I damage my spinal cord. But I believe I could get over that difficulty. I try not to worry too much because it can’t be helped. I will consider what to do when I am paralyzed.”
Nonetheless, Nishi has proven himself to be quite successful in the porn industry, earning the support of Kei Morikawa, a Japanese mainstream film and porn director and Ganari Takahashi, an entrepreneur of the Japanese porn industry.
Nishi also believes his works “prevent children from being sexually abused, just like war movies and shooter video games can contribute to peace.”
The computer programmer turned porn star Nishi hopes to one day work in the west. “I’d like to perform in non-erotic dramas and movies and American porn in the future.”
