John Cho has spoken up about the United Airlines incident in which a 69-year-old passenger was forcibly dragged off the plane.

The airline had asked several passengers who were already boarded on a flight from Chicago to Louisville on Sunday to disembark from the plane because too many tickets were sold. When a 69-year-old passenger refused to leave, United called in airport officials who forcibly removed the him from the plane.

United Airlines CEO Oscar Munoz claims the passenger who was left bleeding from his face after being dragged off an overbooked flight was “disruptive and belligerent”.

In a Tweet, Cho referenced the incident and considered it a reflection of the political climate since Donald Trump became president.

“It’s hard not to see a connection between the environment Trump has created and what happened on that @united flight,” Cho Tweeted.

The Wrap reports that the airline had initially offered passengers $400 and a hotel stay to take a different flight. The offer was increased to $800 but no one wanted to claim it.

Last year, Cho starred in Star Trek Beyond as Hikaru Sulu. The actor insisted that his character’s husband must be played by an Asian. Doug Jung was then casted as Sulu’s husband.
