Donnie Yen has condemned United Airlines following the incident involving a passenger being dragged off a plane.

The United Airlines incident in which 69-year-old Dr David Dao was forcibly removed from an aircraft has sent shockwaves around the world. Despite CEO Oscar Munoz claiming Dr Dao was a “disruptive” and “belligerent” passenger, no one seems to be siding with the airline.

Star Trek actor John Cho was amongst the first to condemn the airline’s actions, drawing a link between the incident and the “environment Trump has created”. The story even caused controversy across Chinese social media.

Now, Rogue One star Donnie Yen has shared his view on the extremely controversial incident.

On his Facebook page, Yen wrote that his own child was horrified by the incident. Yen questions how a parent can even begin to explain how such an incident could occur. “My nine years old son saw this news on tv and was horrified, “Baba, what happened?””, Yen wrote. How do you teach your children of such uncivilized, injustice, discriminated, publicly and proudly assaulted a 69 year old man, treating him like trash.”

Yen continued to state that he will blacklist United from his airline choice. “No one should be treated this way. This is unacceptable and need to be condemn. United was never my choice of airline, now they are black listed.”

Fans were quick to respond to the Ip Man actor’s post. Alicia Lim wrote, “tell your son, that the man is a doctor, and he’s not sick. He was on that plane to get back on time for his patient, where UA had manhandled him the worst possible way, just so the other crew members to board the plane.”

Annie Chan commented, “Thanks for standing up against this act Donnie. Asian or not, UA has always offered unsatisfactory service, this is very extreme and the CEO only “regretted” but no apologies.”

Others commented on the incident itself. Carina Luu wrote, “UA had no rights in removing paying passengers in that manner. It’s their incompetence that they overbooked the flight which means they will need to heavily compensate any volunteers who is willing to give up their seat! They should not be allowed to use any force. “Computer generated random names” is BS! I’ve never heard of such thing! I believe it has been selected by the staff …either by the ticket value or racism is a factor there. Both security and staff on board should be sacked”
