Marco Polo’s Michelle Yeoh to star alongside Constance Wu in Crazy Rich Asians

According to the ‘Hollywood Reporter Marco Polo’s star Michelle Yeoh has been cast in Jon M Chu latest project ‘Crazy Rich Asians‘. The movie which will feature an all Asian cast is an adaption of Kevin Kwan’s novel.

Fresh Off The Boat star Constance Wu has already been cast in the lead role playing Rachel Chu.

The film centres on the lives of wealthy Chinese families living in Singapore. The story follows Rachel (Wu), an American-born Chinese economics professor who travels to Singapore for her boyfriend’s best friend’s wedding. It quickly becomes apparent that her boyfriend Nick and his family are incredibly wealthy. Rachel soon realises that Nick may just be the most desirable bachelor in Asia and that every other single woman in his social class is jealous of her and wants to bring her down.

Yeoh, will play Nick’s disapproving mother Eleanor Young.

Yeoh recently appeared in Netflix’s Crouching Tiger sequel and season two of Marco Polo. She was recently cast in the role of a starship captain in Star Trek: Discovery.

Last month, director Chu took to social media to cast Asians in his film.
