Fresh Off The Boat actress Constance Wu has slammed Casey Affleck’s Oscar nomination on Twitter.

Affleck was nominated for Best Actor for Manchester By The Sea, after winning Best Actor in a Drama at the Golden Globes a few weeks ago.

Whilst filming I’m Still Here in 2010, sexual assault allegations were filed against Affleck but were settled out of court. Some have questioned why these events have not had any light shed on it during Affleck’s recent success. Constance Wu is one of them.

“Men who sexually harass women 4 OSCAR!”, Wu sarcastically Tweeted. “Bc good acting performance matters more than humanity, human integrity!”

Wu even went as far as saying “Casey Affleck’s win will be a nod to Trump’s.” She also told her followers that she was counseled not to discuss the topic for “career’s sake”, to which she said, “F my career then, I’m a woman & human first. That’s what my craft is built on.”

At the end of last year, we crowned Constance Wu as the Resonate Asian of The Year 2016. – “Wu’s approach in using her celebrity status to vocalise the community’s concerns about representation is not only commendable, but is also invaluable to a global community that is otherwise considered ‘silent’. As Wu bravely fights for diversity on screen on behalf of her fellow Asian actors, she reassures the community as well as actors who deem the movie industry as discriminatory.”
