Asian American journalist Juju Chang has interviewed alt-right white nationalist Richard Spencer.

In the clip, Chang discusses Spencer’s outlook on life, Trump and his ideal future, which he calls an all white ethno-state.

Richard Spencer is the founder of the alt-right movement in America. Chang said the movement became infamous after its supporters were seen hailing Trump with Nazi salutes. “Hail Trump, hail our people, hail victory,” Spencer says in the speech that triggered Nazi salutes from the audience.

Spencer talks of “a white country designed for ourselves and our posterity” and tells Chang that Trump “slingshotted our movement into fame”. When asked about the ‘hailing Trump’ speech, Spencer brushes it aside saying it was said in a “spirit of irony and exuberance”. Chang replies, “What is exuberant about genocide? What is fun about mass murder?”

“Absolutely I’m trying to normalise racism,” Spencer says.

The rest of the video shows Chang grilling the alt-right leader on his incendiary motives and the reasons why he believes Hispanics and African Americans are more likely to commit crimes.
