Explosion in Shanghai’s Pudong international airport injures three

An explosion at the check-in are of Shanghai’s Pudong International Airport has injured three people.

 

The homemade explosive blew up in Terminal Two at around Sunday 1420 local time. Three people were taken to hospital but their but no update on their current condition has been given. There were no disruptions to the flights coming in or going out of the airport.

The Associated Press quotes Ni Boen, an eye witness who was waiting go check into his Philippine Airlines flight just as the explosion happened, “at that moment, a beer bottle filled with white smoke rolled right by my feet. I was scared and made off at once.”

The culprit behind the detonation and their motive are yet to be discovered.

Pudong’s International Airport is also a hub for two major domestic airlines.
