Simu Liu has officially tied the knot. The thirty-seven-year-old actor, recognised worldwide as the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s master of kung fu in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, married his longtime partner, Allison Hsu, in France over the first weekend of October 2026.

Sources confirmed the wedding to TMZ on Monday, marking the culmination of a romance that began in late 2022.

The celebrations followed weeks of pre-wedding gatherings. Last month, Hsu took to Instagram to share pictures from her bridal party in Tulum, Mexico, surrounded by close friends.

“The sweetest day I’ve ever had surrounded by the world’s most beautiful and brilliant sisters,” Hsu wrote alongside photos of the beachside trip. In another post, she captioned the memories: “Miss to Mrs with all my b****es.”

A French Romance From Proposal to Altar

France has served as a central backdrop for the couple’s milestone moments. Liu proposed to Hsu in Paris in May 2025 during a holiday, later sharing selfies of the two posing in front of the Eiffel Tower.

“Us forever,” they wrote on social media at the time.

In a joint reflection shared with followers, they added: “From weekends in Paris, day trips to Palm Springs, long nights on set, afternoons vegging on the couch and everything in between, I choose you forever and always.”

The two first made their public red-carpet debut in December 2022 at the Los Angeles premiere of the holiday action film Violent Night.

Industry Success and a Taylor Swift Assist

While Liu continues his rise through Hollywood—holding roles in upcoming ensemble blockbusters including Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars—Hsu has built a formidable profile within the recording industry.

Starting as an intern at Interscope Records in 2017 while studying at UCLA, she rose through the company to become digital marketing director in 2023. Forbes recognised her achievements by naming her to its 30 Under 30 music list.

“It’s still surreal to me that I get to wake up every day and do what I love at a company as innovative and trailblazing as @interscope and work alongside so many amazing people that inspire me to be the best version of myself possible,” Hsu wrote after receiving the honour. “I’m honoured to be recognised as a young Asian-American woman in this industry that I only dreamt of being apart of as a little girl & music superfan growing up in Pennsylvania.”

Her musical background also provided an unexpected assist during their engagement. Knowing that Hsu grew up an avid fan of Taylor Swift, Liu reached out to the pop superstar’s team to arrange a personal congratulatory video.

“My fiancée works in music, she’s a digital marketing executive, and she grew up a Swiftie. She loves Taylor Swift,” Liu shared during an appearance on The Tonight Show. “Taylor Swift‘s songs and her music, that was a big part even in the beginning of our relationship, was getting to know [my fiancée] through those songs and why they meant so much to her.”

He reached out through Swift’s representative, asking if she could record a short congratulatory message.

“She literally, two days later, sent it over and I was able to play it for her, and so, Taylor Swift was the cherry on top!” Liu said. “She is just so nice and so sweet.”

Now officially wed, the couple begins married life between Hollywood studio sets and music industry offices.
