Netflix has released the main trailer and poster for its highly anticipated Thai crime thriller The Debt Collector. Scheduled for a global streaming launch on 23 July 2026, the film marks a significant milestone as the official Netflix debut for rising star DAOU Pittaya Saechua.

Directed by Surapong Ploensang and produced by Jungka Studio, the feature explores the violent realities of illegal lending networks. The production team aims to deliver high-stakes, street-level action where every single punch carries a distinct emotional weight and moral cost.

DAOU Pittaya Saechua Abandons His Romantic Image

The project represents a major career pivot for DAOU Pittaya Saechua, who plays Po, the volatile and aggressive son of a powerful loan shark. Best known for his previous roles in mainstream romance stories and television dramas, Saechua deliberately chose this project to test his range as an actor and step into an adversarial role.

“It was different from simply playing a typical leading man or being in a romance story,” Saechua explained when discussing his decision to join the dark thriller. “I wanted to see whether I could truly bring this character to life and make audiences believe it. If people end up hating the character, I would actually consider that a success.”

His character’s hunger for unchecked power and institutional recognition drives the underlying conflict of the film. Po’s ambitions place him on a direct, violent collision course with the movie’s main protagonist, establishing a tense psychological battle alongside the physical choreography.

A Dark Clash for Redemption

Standing opposite Saechua is one of Thailand’s most prominent leading men, Nadech Kugimiya. He undergoes a total physical transformation to play Num, an exhausted former debt collector who is fighting a terminal illness after a stint in prison. Covered in tattoos and scars, Num tries to abandon his criminal past, only for Po’s escalating criminal activities to drag him straight back into the underworld.

The newly released footage previews long-take combat sequences and raw street fights. The co-writers, Daew Onusa Donsawai and Pun Homchuen, designed the screenplay to show how both men are shaped by the same corrupt financial system, even though they react to it in entirely opposite ways. Beyond the standard martial arts tropes, the film positions itself as an examination of personal guilt and the non-financial debts that people accumulate throughout their lives.

The Debt Collector premieres July 23, only on Netflix.
