Lola Tung has signed a deal to join the cast of Please, the upcoming feature film from acclaimed director Halina Reijn and independent studio A24. The casting adds another prominent young name to a production that is quickly building significant industry momentum.
A24 has chosen to finance and produce the project, though executives are keeping the exact plot details and Tung’s specific character assignment entirely confidential. Reijn will direct the film using her own original screenplay, producing the project under her Man Up Film banner alongside her frequent filmmaking collaborator David Hinojosa.
A Highly Secretive Production
Tung enters an eclectic ensemble cast that already features musician Gracie Abrams, Tom Burke, Connor Storrie, and Alien: Romulus star David Jonsson. The production team has enforced a strict script lockdown, and no details regarding the genre or timeline have leaked to the public.

Reijn has established a strong reputation within the independent film landscape for handling tense, subversive stories. Her previous directorial projects include the dark satirical comedy Bodies Bodies Bodies and the erotic thriller Babygirl, both produced in partnership with A24.
The inclusion of executive producer Zach Nutman suggests that Please represents a high priority for the studio’s upcoming release calendar. Production tracking logs indicate that filming schedules are being structured around the existing commitments of its young stars.
Tung Continues Cinematic Transition
You will likely recognize Lola Tung from her breakout leading performance as Belly Conklin in Amazon Prime Video’s popular teen drama series The Summer I Turned Pretty. She is currently in the middle of filming a feature-length film continuation of that series, which will bring the coming-of-age story to its definitive conclusion.

The new A24 project expands Tung’s rapid transition from television serials into prestigious independent cinema. Earlier this year, she starred opposite Lili Reinhart in the drama Forbidden Fruits. She also earned positive reviews for her performance in director Josephine Decker’s feature Chasing Summer, which held its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival.
Tung has secured several other high-profile roles ahead of the new Reijn project. She will soon appear in Neon’s upcoming thriller The Young People, directed by Osgood Perkins, where she shares the screen with Nicole Kidman and Nico Parker.
