A new scripted series titled The Season is preparing to pull back the curtain on the insular, opulent world of Hong Kong’s elite. Produced by PCCW Media and SK Global—the studio behind Crazy Rich Asians—the six-part English-language drama held a series of launch events this week at the Filmart content market in Hong Kong.
The project, described as a “champagne-fueled revenge drama,” centers on the Hext family, an old-money fixture of the city’s social hierarchy. The plot follows a group of friends as they gather for the start of the summer boating season, only for their sun-drenched luxury to be disrupted by a newcomer named Cola, who arrives with a hidden agenda.
A Global Ensemble in Victoria Harbour
The series features a cast drawn from across the international film and television landscape. Jessie Mei Li (Shadow and Bone) stars as Cola, supported by Toby Stephens (Percy Jackson and the Olympians) and Karena Lam as the family’s patriarch and matriarch.
The ensemble also includes Chris Pang, Justin Chien, Yvonne Chapman, Celina Jade, and Lee Jae-yoon. Musician Anson Lo, a member of the popular Hong Kong boy band Mirror, appears in a cameo as a fictionalized version of himself.

During the Filmart panel, Lo joked about the novelty of the role. “This is my first time playing Anson Lo,” he said. He noted that he frequently accepts acting roles to broaden his experience, recently spending four days filming a project with the acclaimed director Johnnie To.
Production and Release Details
Created and executive-produced by Yalun Tu (NCIS: Hawai‘i), the series was filmed on location to showcase the striking contrasts of the Hong Kong cityscape. Marialy Rivas served as the lead director, aiming for a tone that combines the “rich people behaving badly” tension of The White Lotus with a more lethal revenge plot.

The Season is scheduled to launch in June 2026. In the United States, it will stream on Hulu. Viewers in Asia, the Middle East, and South Africa can find it on Viu, while Now TV will serve as the broadcaster in Hong Kong.
International sales are being managed by Fremantle and De Maio Entertainment. According to Janice Lee, CEO of PCCW Media Group, the series is a story of redemption designed for a global audience.
